![]() Sherman Alexie talked about his young adult novel The Absolutely True Diary of a Part-Time Indian, published by Little, Brown Young Readers. Bestselling author Sherman Alexie tells the story of Junior, a budding cartoonist growing up on the Spokane Indian Reservation. He is the author of many other books, including Indian Killer, Smoke Signals, and Reservation Blues. Alexie was since then awarded the National Book Award for Young People’s Literature for this book. This program of the Texas Book Festival was held in The Sanctuary on Lavaca Street. He also responded to questions from members of the audience. Junior, a Native American boy growing up on the Spokane reservation in Washington, decides to attend. In a frequently humorous presentation he talked about his life and the differences from the book.
